"This is adorable btw" - Sophie (AmazingDogpie) via Twitter.
Online Friend is a song dedicated to all my online friends that I've made... well... online. Since I had not that many people to talk to back in high school due to 'reasons', my only form of socialisation is with people I've befriended through social media and they kept me company whenever I feel sad or if I want to share some news.
I dedicate this song to the following:
- Madison Ward, the first online best friend I've ever met (aka: The Dan to my Phil)
- The (Original) BMO Squad - Sora, Rebekah and Rhaya for being amazing and awesome (We still have to form that band thou)
- Sophie (aka: AmazingDogpie) who is my music senpai and inspired me to write this song
- The Shady Subtweeters, Lactating and Violent and Writer's Club and the new BMO Squad for being amazing as well.
lyrics
V1:
When I first saw you
I never thought this day would come
We first thought it was a one time thing
We never thought we both belong
Endless Skype calls
Saying how much you mean to me
Seeing your face through my screen
Is the reason why I’m still here
Chorus:
Please don’t leave me
You’re my online friend
Can you promise this for me
That we’ll be friends till the very end
V2:
Then came when we’re both older
You said you’ll come to visit me
I first thought it was all a dream
Never knew this day would be real
Waiting at the station
Holding up a sign with your name on it
Reading through our previous messages
I’m finally glad I get to see you
Chorus:
Please don’t leave me
You’re my online friend
Can you promise this for me
That we’ll be friends till the very end
Please don’t let go
I still want to hold your hand
Cuz you’re very dear to me
This was the most fun I ever had
Bridge:
Looking back at the times we had
We never knew we’d go this far
I still remember how we first met
We’re just some random kids on the internet
Chorus: (2x)
Please don’t leave me
You’re my online friend
Can you promise this for me
That we’ll be friends till the very end
